WORCESTER — The field is officially set for the 2026 American Legion Baseball Northeast Regional Tournament, and Massachusetts champion Franklin Post 75 now knows its path toward a regional title and a trip to the American Legion World Series.
Fresh off capturing the Massachusetts State Championship with a perfect 22-0 record, Franklin will open tournament play against Bedford, New Hampshire in the first round at historic Fitton Field on the campus of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester.
The eight-team regional tournament brings together state champions from across New England, along with the host team. Joining Franklin in the field are:
- Bedford, New Hampshire
- Essex, Vermont
- Cumberland, Rhode Island
- Sanford, Maine
- Shrewsbury Post 397 (Host Team)
Franklin enters the tournament riding plenty of momentum after an unbeaten run through the Massachusetts State Tournament. The District 6 champions defeated Milford twice, along with Sandwich and Hyde Park en route to the state title.
Now the Scarlet squad turns its attention to an even bigger challenge as it looks to prove itself against the best American Legion programs in the Northeast.
The regional tournament will be played August 5-9 at Fitton Field, one of New England’s premier baseball venues and home to Holy Cross baseball. The winner will advance to the American Legion World Series, where regional champions from across the country will compete for the national championship.
And for those who simply can’t get enough American Legion baseball, Shrewsbury will also be hosting the Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament at Tivenan Field at Quinsigamond State Park, also in Worcester. This tournament features the state champions from Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, and Connecticut.
The Heart of the Commonwealth will host a dozen of the best American Legion baseball teams along the East Coast. Two teams will punch their ticket to Shelby, North Carolina to compete in the American Legion World Series beginning on August 13th.
