The Franklin Recreation Department’s Pee Wee Baseball League officially wrapped up its 25th season last week, closing the book on another successful summer of America’s Pastime. The program, which has become a staple of the community, once again provided kids with an opportunity to learn the game, develop skills, and embrace the sportsmanship that comes with baseball.
This summer brought challenges with stretches of bad weather, but the players and coaches made the most of it. From April through August, young athletes took the field, many of them experiencing different positions for the first time and beginning their journey in organized baseball. Volunteers and coaches played a major role, dedicating countless hours to teaching fundamentals, encouraging teamwork, and creating an environment where players could grow both on and off the diamond.
Even with rainouts and the occasional heat wave, the season was filled with highlights, from big hits to key plays in the field, and plenty of memorable moments for families and players alike. As Franklin looks ahead, the league is already preparing for its 26th season next summer, aiming for another year of strong participation and hopefully improved weather. With its longstanding tradition and community support, Franklin’s Pee Wee program continues to thrive as an introduction to baseball for the next generation of players.
