Franklin’s Zach Winer didn’t just win the 2025 Daily News Fans Baseball Player of the Year award; he dominated the vote, earning 32%, a full 11 points higher than the runner-up. The honor capped a season where Winer excelled both on the mound and at the plate, becoming one of the most feared two-way players in the state.

Offensively, Winer hit .342 with five doubles, three home runs, 17 RBIs, and 13 stolen bases. On the mound, he was the definition of an ace, posting a 5–2 record, a 1.75 ERA, and 50 strikeouts in 52 innings. His performance earned him both Hockomock League All-Star honors and a spot in the Massachusetts Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Game.

Winer’s leadership was equally important as Franklin made a deep playoff run, advancing to the Elite Eight before a narrow 2–1 loss to King Philip Regional ended their season. His competitive edge and versatility make him a player any coach would want in the lineup, and Franklin fans will remember his 2024–25 campaign as one of the program’s finest.
