Franklin Legion baseball’s playoff hopes came down to a make‑or‑break doubleheader against Hyde Park and Sharon. Entering tied for fourth place with three other teams, Franklin controlled its destiny: two wins could vault them as high as No. 4; two losses could drop them to No. 7.

In Game 1, Franklin fell 6–4 to Hyde Park. Despite Zach Winer’s two‑hit night, including a solo home run, Hyde Park’s timely hitting prevailed. Winer’s effort kept Franklin in contention, but Hyde Park escaped with the win.

Refusing to let the setback define them, Franklin dominated Game 2, routing Sharon 8–1. Nate Pennini was masterful with a complete‑game shutout: seven innings, three hits allowed, and ten strikeouts. The offense erupted behind balanced contributions, securing the split.

With a 1–1 finish, Franklin closes the regular season at 9–5 and now travels to Braintree tomorrow at 5:45 PM. A victory there could lock up a top‑three seed and set the stage for a deep postseason run. After a summer of streaks and swings, Franklin still holds the power to shape its own playoff path.
