Franklin Legion baseball entered its Thursday night matchup against Needham with a 2-1 record after a dominant win over Easton. In the game against Needham, the Legion fell 8-5 in a close contest that saw both teams trade big innings. Ultimately, Needham pushed across multiple runs in the late innings to pull away, handing Franklin its second loss of the young season. Despite the setback, Franklin saw several standout performances. Cole Sidwell led the offense with three hits, including a double, and scored twice. Jack Sullivan matched that output with three hits of his own, adding two doubles and two runs. Their efforts highlighted Franklin’s ability to generate offense even when trailing.
Earlier in the week, Franklin rolled past Easton behind a masterful performance from ace Nate Pennini. Pennini fired a complete-game no-hitter, striking out 14 and issuing only one walk. Sidwell also shone in that victory, contributing a triple and driving in two runs. Looking ahead, Franklin will face Morrisette at 7 PM Friday. Morrisette defeated Needham earlier this season, presenting another tough test. After the loss to Needham, Franklin will aim to rebound behind Pennini’s arm and the bats of Sidwell and Sullivan.
