Franklin’s Legion baseball squad had an impressive outing Monday night against Norton in an 8-1 beatdown led by stellar performances. This came after a disappointing loss against Quincy last Thursday, in a 6-2 affair where Franklin struggled to get the bats going. This wasn’t the case in Monday’s showdown with Norton, which saw utter domination from Franklin to improve to an even 3-3 on the year. Standout performances included pitcher Lukas Phillip going five strong innings, giving up two hits, and getting an incredible ten strikeouts. Brady short closed out the game in relief, refusing to give Norton any offensive spark after Philip left. At the plate, Franklin got back on track, with shortstop Jack Sullivan getting two hits, two RBIs, and three runs on the day. Second baseman Zachary Winer also had a strong showing, contributing two hits and RBIs as well. Franklin will look to move a game above .500 in their game tomorrow against Easton on the road. In their previous matchup, Franklin shut them out 4-0 and will look to do the same tomorrow. Easton has struggled this year, being winless in six games, and presents a great opportunity for Franklin to enter the top half of the league standings.
