Franklin’s postseason run came to an end in the Region 7 Championship as Sandwich swept the best-of-three final series with back-to-back 3-0 victories. Despite strong pitching, Franklin’s offense was stifled, bringing an otherwise stellar summer to a close.

In Game 1, Cam Hasenfus gave up just three runs over six innings with four strikeouts, while Owen Pennini delivered a seven-inning outing in Game 2, allowing only two runs. But Franklin’s bats couldn’t break through against a sharp Sandwich pitching staff.

Franklin had gained momentum at just the right time this summer, bouncing back from a slow start with eight straight wins to lock down the No. 3 seed. That run included a 7-4 first-round regional win over Scituate, powered by Zach Winer’s six strong innings and 11 strikeouts. Jack Sullivan chipped in with three hits, and Lukas Phillip drove in two with a double.

In the regional semifinal, Franklin edged out Medfield thanks to Austin Campbell’s five-inning, 12-strikeout gem and Matt Luccini’s three-run homer. Pennini added a clutch walk-off single to complete the rally.

Although the final series didn’t go their way, Franklin’s season was a success, one defined by resilience, strong leadership, and a deep postseason push that nearly ended in a title.
