The Holliston Panthers girls’ cross country team participated in the annual TVL Showcase, where local teams faced off for the Tri-Valley League crown. This year, Westwood, Ashland, Holliston, Hopkinton, Dover-Sherborn, Norton, Dedham, Bellingham, and Medfield all took part.
In the showcase, the Holliston Panthers had a strong performance, finishing third with a score of 93. Holliston was close to Ashland, which led with a score of 89, but Westwood pulled away and dominated with a score of 40.
Holliston had some excellent individual efforts, with Lucy Downin taking top honors with a time of 18:01.5, and Emerson Harrington placing eighth with a time of 19:33. The Panthers needed these two runners in top form to compete at this tournament, and Downin and Harrington delivered. The Panthers had built momentum coming into the showcase, sitting at 4-1 before the meet with four straight victories.
Holliston will look for continued strong performances from athletes like Downin and Harrington as they prepare for future tournaments. Both runners figure to contend in individual competitions as the season progresses.
