Whitinsville Christian returned to action and held on for a 46-41 win over St. Bernard’s in a midweek thriller that kept the Crusaders unbeaten. Whitinsville led comfortably, 41-23, heading into the fourth quarter, but the Bernardians mounted a furious comeback, outscoring the Crusaders 18-5 in the final stanza to make the finish tense.

Brothers Gabe and Micah Deters carried the offensive load for Whitinsville, combining for 30 points with Gabe pouring in a team-high 18 points. St. Bernard’s countered with strong scoring from Daniel Kenney (17 points) and Yadiel Zapata (14 points), and the Bernardians showed the kind of late-game urgency that has defined their season.

The finish was a test of poise. Whitinsville weathered the storm, converting key free throws and protecting the ball in the closing minute to preserve the victory. The win keeps the Crusaders unbeaten and sends them into a tough home test tonight against Leicester (6-1), a squad riding a two-game streak and widely regarded as the favorite. Whitinsville will need another big night from the Deters brothers and cleaner late-game execution if it hopes to leave Leicester with its perfect record intact.
