Whitinsville-Christian softball endured a humbling 17–0 shutout at the hands of Sutton on Monday, a stark contrast to the team’s explosive 21–11 win over Blackstone-Millville the previous Wednesday. The Crusaders managed only two hits in the loss but did show moments of resilient play with multiple defensive stops that kept Sutton from running away with even more runs. Offensively, Whitinsville-Christian struggled to generate consistent contact against Sutton’s pitching, but the team’s earlier success highlighted its potential when the bats were hot. The squad’s depth was on full display in that 21–11 victory, with contributions from every spot in the lineup, including key hits and aggressive baserunning that forced errors and extra throws. Now 5–10, the Crusaders have one final regular-season chance to finish on a high note as they host Southbridge, winless at 0–17, today at 3:30 PM. For seniors Cadence Murzycki, Hannah Ostroff, Katie Godin, and Eden Cabral, this game could represent their final home appearance. The team will lean on its seniors’ leadership, solid fundamentals in the field, and the memory of last week’s offensive explosion to mount a comeback. A victory would be the perfect cap to their season and a fitting send-off for a dedicated senior class.
