Blackstone-Millville has shuffled through a string of mixed results lately, most recently getting walloped by Wachusett 64-40 on Friday. Karson Cournoyer paced the Chargers in that loss with 17 points, but the rest of the roster combined for just 23 points, a shortfall the team will want to fix.
Earlier this week, the Chargers’ rotation showed better balance in a win over Uxbridge, with Josh Casper-Phipps and Jackson Dunton each chipping in 11 points, a scoring distribution the staff will try to reproduce. But Bartlett, sitting at 1-4 entering the matchup, brought a different look in the next test.
Bartlett stunned Blackstone-Millville 68-56 behind a red-hot night from Kenny Arpin. Arpin poured in 23 points and buried five three-pointers to push the Bulldogs past the Chargers. Tyler Whiting added 16 points to give Bartlett the spacing and inside scoring to control the second half.
Jackson Dunton led the Chargers offensively in the loss with 26 points, but it was not enough against Bartlett’s hot shooting and balanced attack. Blackstone-Millville now readies for a road trip to Oxford, a Pirates team that has struggled early but has the potential to test the Chargers’ ability to produce support scoring across the bench.
