MILFORD — Campers Inn RV is expanding its presence in the Milford community in more ways than one.

The nation’s largest family-operated RV dealership has opened its newest location at 13 Cape Road in Milford and has also become the official sponsor of the MyFM Local Sports & Recreation Network, helping support local coverage of sports, recreation, and active lifestyles throughout the region.

General Manager Toby Wheeler recently joined MyFM’s The Ride Home to discuss the company’s history, its new Milford dealership, and why Campers Inn RV focuses on helping families create lasting memories outdoors.

Campers Inn RV traces its roots back to 1966, when founders Art and Fred Hirsch had a frustrating experience while shopping for their own camper. Feeling they had been unfairly judged, the brothers decided to invest their life savings into selling campers from their front lawn instead. Sixty years later, that small family business has grown into 52 locations nationwide, with the third generation of the Hirsch family still leading the company.

“It’s a great company,” Wheeler said. “I’ve been there 12 years, started as a salesman, became a sales manager, and now I’m proud to be the general manager of our new Milford store.”

The Milford dealership officially opened in March and is now fully stocked with inventory. Customers will find a complete sales department, financing services, and a full-service maintenance center, along with staff dedicated to helping first-time and experienced RV owners alike.

Rather than simply selling RVs, Wheeler said Campers Inn takes an educational approach.

“We really are the RV trusted resource,” Wheeler explained. “We educate our customers, make sure they have the right tow vehicle, and help them find the right RV for their family’s needs.”

That philosophy, he said, reflects the company’s founding story and commitment to treating every customer with the same level of respect, regardless of their budget.

The Milford location offers a wide variety of new and pre-owned travel trailers and fifth wheels, with prices beginning around $12,995 and extending into luxury models exceeding $150,000. Flexible financing options are also available, allowing customers to find payment plans that fit their budget.

Wheeler noted that today’s RVs have evolved significantly, offering many of the modern conveniences families expect while still encouraging them to spend more time together outdoors.

“Camping gives families a chance to get away from the hustle and bustle,” Wheeler said. “But today’s RVs have also adapted to modern life. People can work remotely, stay connected, and still enjoy being out in nature.”

Purchasing through Campers Inn also provides customers with additional benefits through its Inside Access Membership and RV Priority Network, which offers roadside assistance, campground packages, service discounts, and access to hundreds of participating service locations across the country.

As Campers Inn RV settles into its new Milford home, Wheeler said the goal remains the same as it was six decades ago: helping families enjoy the camping lifestyle with confidence.
