Fresh off a State Vocational Tournament title, the BVT Beavers turned around quickly and handled St. Bernard’s in the preliminary round, taking a 4-2 win to move on to the Round of 32. The Beavers had captured SVT hardware with a 4-1 victory over Monty Tech earlier in the week and showed poise in the quick turnaround.
Olivia Hall and Hayden Tobin continued to be major factors, and Ava Fenner and Peyton Smith also found the net in the win while Macy Sullivan chipped in to round out the scoring. For St. Bernard’s, Emily Terho and Kayla Richards accounted for the two goals, but BVT’s balance proved decisive.
BVT has won three straight and now faces a daunting challenge tomorrow against Sandwich, the No. 2 seed in D3 with a 15-1-2 record. Sandwich has been the class of the division alongside perennial powers like Uxbridge and arrives as the prohibitive favorite in this matchup.
Still, the Beavers’ recent form and tournament pedigree give them the momentum to test a Blue Knights squad that has won four of its last five. Watch at 4 PM to see if BVT can parlay its SVT crown into a postseason upset or if Sandwich will reaffirm its status near the top of D3.
