The Blackstone Valley Tech boys golf team posted a strong showing at the MIAA D2 Central Sectional at Kettle Brook, finishing fourth overall among a deep 14-team field with a team total of 307. That mark put BVT within striking distance of the leaders; sectional champion Nashoba carded a 300, and the competition was tight across the top of the leaderboard.
BVT’s result was buoyed by outstanding individual scoring. Leopaul Gamelin fired a 72 to tie for top individual honors at the sectional, and Charlie Leighton finished in the upper tier as well, tying for second. Those low rounds were the backbone of the Beavers’ team performance and reflected both the players’ ability to score under pressure and the program’s overall depth, built across a perfect 12-0 regular-season record.
Finishing fourth at sectionals positions BVT well as they move into the final stages of the season, the Beavers showed they can compete with the region’s best and that they have the individual shooters to post tournament rounds. The sectional result will serve as a confidence boost and a reminder that BVT’s leaders, particularly Gamelin and Leighton, can be relied upon in tight events. With continued steady scoring and clutch performances, the Beavers can aim to convert sectional momentum into strong showings at upcoming postseason tournaments.
