The Hopedale Blue Raiders had an incredible season, finishing 22-5 and coming up just short in the D5 championship game. Their postseason run was unforgettable—blowing out both HCSS and Monson before winning tight thrillers against New Mission and Westport. In a particularly dramatic moment against Westport, star captain Patrick Madden hit a game-winner with just three seconds left.
However, the Blue Raiders fell short in the final against the undefeated Pioneer Valley Regional Panthers, who ended their season at 26-0 and rank among the top 15 teams in the state. Favored for a reason, the Panthers proved too much for Hopedale in the championship matchup.
Despite the disappointing ending, Hopedale can be proud of their performance this year. The team not only reached the Clark Tournament finals but also advanced to the State Finals on the strength of a dazzling buzzer-beater that will be remembered for years to come. Players like Madden, whose clutch plays defined the season, have etched their names into Hopedale lore. The Blue Raiders’ journey may have ended in heartbreak this season, but the resilience and sacrifice shown promise a strong comeback next year.
