The Blackstone Valley Beavers boys lacrosse team came away with a hard-fought 9-8 win over Nipmuc yesterday afternoon in a close, back-and-forth matchup. The Beavers had to work for every goal, but they found just enough offense to come out on top in a game that stayed tight throughout.

Ben Peshler led the way with a hat trick and two assists, giving Blackstone Valley a big playmaker in a game that could have gone either way. Finn Lozeu, Cooper Bellan and Thomas Kavanagh each added two goals and also chipped in at least one assist apiece, showing that the Beavers had scoring support across the lineup. That balanced output proved to be the difference in a one-goal game where neither side could fully pull away.

The win moves Blackstone Valley to 2-2 on the season, with victories over St. Bernard’s and Nipmuc and losses to Oakmont and Littleton. The Oakmont loss last Saturday was a rough one, as the Beavers fell 16-5, so this win over a quality Nipmuc team was an encouraging response early in the year.

Blackstone Valley now turns to Assabet on Friday at 4 p.m. The Aztecs are 1-3 and are coming off an 8-4 loss to St. Bernard’s, giving the Beavers another chance to build momentum and keep climbing.
