The Blackstone Valley Beavers softball team’s season ended Sunday morning with a 6-0 shutout loss to second‐seeded Norton in the Round of 32. Norton, which went 18-2 during the regular season, showed its strength by controlling all aspects of the game, pitching, defense, and timely hitting, to keep Blackstone Valley off the scoreboard. Despite the final margin, the Beavers competed fiercely. Senior Julia Trujillo tripled to spark a rally in the middle innings, and several Beavers reached base via well-placed hits and aggressive baserunning that tested Norton’s defense. On the defensive end, Blackstone Valley turned several routine plays in the infield and outfield, preventing the game from becoming a blowout and keeping it competitive deep into the middle innings. Earlier in the week, the Beavers advanced with a thrilling 3-2 preliminary-round win over Lowell Catholic, showcasing improved pitching depth and clutch hitting. That victory will remain a bright spot as the program looks ahead. With underclassmen stepping into larger roles and lessons learned against top competition, Blackstone Valley will aim to build on this season’s progress, targeting a .500 regular season next spring and a deeper playoff run in 2026.
