Blackstone-Millville came away with a sharp 1-0 win over St. Bernard’s yesterday in a matchup that featured two quality teams and one decisive late inning. The Chargers entered at 2-1, and the Bernardians came in at 2-0, setting up a competitive contest that remained scoreless until the seventh.

The difference came in the top of the final inning, when James Rebhan led off with a walk and later came home on a clutch double by Cody Fletcher. That run proved to be enough because Rebhan was outstanding on the mound, striking out eight batters in a complete game shutout. The Chargers got exactly what they needed from both pitching and timely hitting to take down one of the stronger teams on the schedule.

The win moves Blackstone-Millville to 3-1 and gives the program another quality result after a 7-5 win over Keefe Tech in a game that stayed close throughout. This time, the Chargers showed they could win in a lower-scoring battle as well, which is a good sign heading deeper into the season.

Blackstone-Millville now looks ahead to Assabet next Monday afternoon. The Aztecs are 2-1 after a dominant 22-1 win over Worcester North, and they will play Tri-County tomorrow afternoon before facing the Chargers. Blackstone-Millville will try to keep the momentum going with another strong outing.
