Blackstone Valley’s hockey squad returned to the win column with a tight 1-0 victory at Ludlow, snapping a two-game skid and getting a performance to build on. The lone goal came late in the first period from Drew Shanahan, set up by Ethan Lamoureux, and that margin held after an intense defensive battle.
Goaltender Finn Lozeau was the story between the pipes, turning aside 19 shots to secure the shutout and preserve the narrow lead. The Beavers’ defensive structure limited Ludlow to mostly low-quality chances and allowed BVT to play a controlled, possession-oriented game for much of the evening.
Blackstone Valley’s early-season results have included a 5-0 opener over Monty Tech and a narrow loss to Auburn, so this Ludlow win feels like a return to form. The Beavers now prepare for a road test at Medway tomorrow at 8 p.m., where the Mustangs, 4-2 and coming off a loss to Hopkinton, should provide a stronger offensive test. If Lozeau and the Beavers’ defense can replicate Monday’s effort, BVT will have a chance to build momentum heading deeper into the schedule.
