Last Saturday, Hopkinton Middle School hosted the Annual Battle of the Badges Dodgeball Tournament, uniting fire and police departments from across the region. Founded by Hopkinton firefighter Conor Sayles, the event raises funds for the Michael Lisnow Respite Center, a nonprofit supporting children and adults with disabilities.
Fourteen towns, including Bellingham, Hopkinton, Medway, Mendon, and Milford, sent their best teams to compete. The tournament provided a spirited venue for departments to earn bragging rights while showcasing community pride and teamwork. Participants played with determination, each dodgeball throw reflecting a commitment not just to victory, but to a cause that touches local lives.
This event is a shining example of regional solidarity and selflessness. It follows in the footsteps of similar community-driven initiatives, such as the recent Mary Beth Korbey Tournament, where local talents came together to support worthy causes. The Annual Battle of the Badges Dodgeball Tournament reaffirms that athletic competition can be a powerful force for unity and positive change in our communities.
