Sensory-Friendly Picnic at the Park Returns to Douglas

DOUGLAS – The 4th Annual Picnic at the Park Sensory-Friendly Event will bring a full day of inclusive activities, entertainment, food and community resources to Soldiers Field in Douglas on Saturday, August 15th.

The free community event will run from 10 AM to 3 PM and is designed to provide an accessible and welcoming environment for families and individuals of all abilities.

Activities planned throughout the day include inflatable games, a dinosaur bounce house, a barrel train ride, face painting, bubble water tables, giant Jenga, giant Connect Four, cornhole and more. A performance area will also be set up, and the Douglas Police and Fire Departments will be among the local groups participating.

A total of 34 vendors, organizations and attractions are featured on this year’s event map: Uniquely Tina Designs, Sevenhills Childcare, Primetime 3D Printing, WCAC Head Start, Easterseals of MA, J&L Resin Flowers, ABA Centers of America, Open Sky Family Support, DiAwesome Crafts, Itastic Kreations, Sam I Glam, Carols Creations, Knot & Spark Permanent Jewelry, Ocean State Disaster Team, Sensory Sparks, Four Cats Crochet, Creative Memories, Webster First FCU, PPAL, Saber Guild – Chandrila Temple, Douglas SEPAC/CosPlay, Brave Yoga for All, DragonFly Designs, Marchand Environmental, Simon Fairfield Library, Calico Studio, McGoldrick Property Services, AGF Accessories, A&A Creative Customs, T’s Art Studio & Jewelry, The Birthday Girl-Face Painting and BSA Barrel Train. Primetime 3D Printing and Creative Memories each have two spaces on the map, accounting for all 34 numbered locations.

Food vendors scheduled to participate include Breez Freez, Master Tater, Sausages & More, Twizted Beverage and The CinnaLady.

The event is also supported by sponsors and community partners shown on the event flyer, including Pyne Sand & Stone, Social Perspectives 4 Everyone, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, Walmart, Ben’s Container and Rubbish, Webster First, McGoldrick Property Services LLC, UniBank, East Douglas Insurance Agency, Staruk Trucking & Excavation, Marchand Environmental, Caterpillar Clubhouse and the Slovak Republic.

Additional parking will be available at the upper parking lot of St. Denis Church, with a shuttle to Soldiers Field provided by the Douglas Senior Center.
