Sensory-Friendly Community Event Returns to Douglas on August 15

DOUGLAS – The countdown is on for the 4th Annual Sensory Friendly Community Event, hosted by Picnic at the Park Douglas, with just over a month to go until the community-wide celebration.

The free event will take place on Saturday, August 15th, from 10 AM to 3 PM at Soldiers Field, located at 2 Manchaug Street. Open to the public, the event is designed to provide a welcoming, inclusive, and sensory-friendly experience for individuals and families of all abilities.

Attendees can enjoy a full day of activities, including a barrel train ride, inflatable bounce house and obstacle course, Touch-A-Truck, a magic show, balloon animals, face painting, adaptive yoga, lightsaber lessons, and more. The event will also feature a variety of food trucks, craft vendors, and local organizations offering resources and information for families.

Organizers say the event continues to grow each year, creating a fun, accessible environment where everyone can feel welcome and included.
