MEDFIELD – The Medfield High School will host two upcoming community events — a “Paint Your Own Pottery” workshop on April 16th and the “Empty Bowls” fundraiser on May 7th — both benefiting the Medfield Food Cupboard.

The April 16th workshop will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 PM in the school’s ceramics room, where participants can paint one of more than 40 handmade bowls created by students and instructors. The bowls will be glazed, made food-safe and later used for ice-cream sundaes during the Empty Bowls event.

Each participant will select and decorate a bowl of their choice using a variety of colors and designs. The $30 donation for the workshop directly supports the Medfield Food Cupboard. By signing up to the workshop here, the cost of an ice cream sundae and event ticket to the “Empty Bowls” Fundraiser will be included during sign up.

The finished bowls will play a central role in the Empty Bowls fundraiser on May 7th from 5 to 6:30 PM at the Medfield High School, which will coincide with the school’s annual art show. Attendees will be able to enjoy student artwork across multiple disciplines while enjoying ice cream sundaes.

Participants from the workshop will be able to eat a sundae from their own painted bowl. As for people who cannot participate in the workshop, additional handmade sundae bowls will be available for purchase at the event for $25. Tickets for raffle items contributed by artists and local businesses will also be available for purchase, all supporting the Medfield Food Cupboard.

The initiative is led through the Medfield Clay Club, giving students the opportunity to use their creativity for a meaningful cause.
