NORTH ATTLEBORO – Staff and volunteers from the Hockomock Area YMCA will be hitting the links this June as part of the 2026 New England Golf Marathon, a fundraising event organized by Golf Fights Cancer.
Participants will play 100 holes of golf in a single day to raise money for cancer-related causes. Funds raised by the YMCA’s Team LIVESTRONG will directly support the organization’s LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program, which provides free wellness programming for adult cancer survivors.
The 12-week program is designed to help participants rebuild strength, improve flexibility and endurance, and regain confidence following cancer treatment. In addition to physical benefits, the program also fosters meaningful relationships and emotional support among participants navigating similar experiences.
Organizers are hoping to raise $4,000 per team member through donations and community support. They note that every dollar raised through Team LIVESTRONG will stay with the Hockomock Area YMCA to support local cancer survivors.
Since its founding, Golf Fights Cancer has distributed more than $16.5 million in grants to over 92 cancer-related charities, helping fund programs, research, and support services for individuals and families impacted by cancer.
The YMCA says it is proud to be part of the effort and grateful for the community’s continued support of cancer survivors throughout the region.
