This week, a special addition has recently been added to the Hopkinton Center for the Arts (HCA): a redesigned P.A Strack Cabinet Piano passed down for generations. As of now, the piano will now be served as a standout piece of art outside HCA’s beloved farmhouse.
Donated by Dianne DeLucia from Andover, the piano was originally owned by her grandfather, who could play any song through ear rather than practice. In order to carry on his legacy, DeLucia donated this family relic to the Newton Artful Pianos initiative, an art group that redesigns pianos into creative masterpieces.
Local artist DaNice Marshall led the redesign of DeLucia’s piano, who wished to capture the piano’s sentimental value while also transform it into a relic that offers both aesthetic value and musical joy. The piano is currently located on the porch of HCA’s farmhouse. It will be moved inside during the winter season to preserve its quality.
