BOSTON – Military families in the Boston area will have several opportunities to connect with their new community during Blue Star Welcome Week, an initiative designed to help military-connected families build relationships, discover their communities and feel at home in New England.
More than 600,000 military-connected families relocate each year, often leaving behind friends, schools, workplaces and support networks. The New England Chapter of Blue Star Families is hosting a series of events to help families establish new connections and explore the Boston area.
The week will begin with a private tour of the USS Constitution and Museum for military families on Saturday, September 26th. The event will include the 8 AM morning colors ceremony with a cannon salute, as well as a performance by the Navy Band Northeast.
Additional Blue Star Welcome Week activities include a day at the LEGO Discovery Center on September 27th, a day exploring the area aboard the Canoemobile with Wilderness Inquiry on October 3rd, and a Boston Duck Boat city tour and visit to the Museum of Science on October 4th.
The USS Constitution and Museum event will take place at the Charlestown Navy Yard in Boston. Parking at the Nautica Parking Garage at 88 Constitution Road will be validated for half off for up to four hours.
Blue Star Welcome Week was launched nationally in 2020 as an effort to help military families feel welcomed and encourage community members to support them.
More information about Blue Star Welcome Week and events taking place nationwide is available through Blue Star Welcome Week.
