FRANKLIN — Residents in Franklin and surrounding communities will have the opportunity to uncover the history and potential value of their treasured items at an upcoming Antiques Appraisal Event on Saturday, May 9th.

The event will take place from 1 to 5 PM at the Franklin Historical Museum, located at 80 West Central St., and will benefit the museum.

Attendees are invited to bring antiques, collectibles, heirlooms, and other unique items to be evaluated by experienced appraiser James C. Johnston. Items may include artwork, coins, jewelry, books, documents, toys, advertising pieces, and historical memorabilia (firearms will not be accepted). Verbal appraisals will be provided, along with insight into each item’s age, origin, and current market interest.

Organizers say the popular event is perfect for anyone curious about items discovered in attics or passed down through family members. While some objects may hold unexpected value, others may offer rich historical significance.

The cost is $10 for one item or three items for $25. A senior discount is available for those 65 and older, with pricing set at $5 for one item or $10 for three items. No appointment is necessary.
