PO Box 102, Grafton, MA 01519
The Unitarian Universalist Society of Grafton & Upton invites students from Upton pursuing higher education to apply for the 2026 First Unitarian Society of Upton Memorial Scholarship.
The scholarship was established with proceeds from the 1982 sale of the First Unitarian Society Church located at 120 Main St in Upton. The church was built and donated by William Knowlton in 1874 to the First Unitarian Society in Upton. The First Unitarian Society in Upton merged with the Unitarian Congregational Society of Grafton and established the Unitarian Universalist Society of Grafton & Upton in 1985.
The scholarship serves as a lasting memorial to the First Unitarian Society in Upton’s long-standing presence in the Upton community. The scholarship fund provides financial assistance to deserving students from Upton continuing their education.
Applications may be requested by emailing [email protected] and must be submitted by May 1st. Recipients will be selected by May 15th and recognized at graduation or school award ceremonies.
Selection is based on academic achievement, family financial circumstances, number of children in college, and demonstrated social responsibility. Students whose families are members of the Unitarian Universalist Society of Grafton and Upton will receive first consideration.
