1949 - 2026
Paul devoted much of his career to supporting people living with mental illness. He worked for many years as a peer specialist case manager with the Department of Mental Health, helping people with psychiatric disabilities. He was also involved with the Mental Patient Liberation Front and the Massachusetts Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association, where he advocated for the rights of people living with mental illness.
Paul enjoyed spending time with family and friends, particularly going out for lunch and sharing a good meal, especially pizza or Chinese food. He also enjoyed working with computers and was always interested in technology, problem-solving, and learning new things. He cared deeply for his brother, Danny, who was an important part of his life.
Paul is survived by his siblings, John Ottenstein and his wife, Tibel Rubin, of Millis, and Beth Fischer of Brookline. He was predeceased by his brother, Daniel Ottenstein.
The family extends its gratitude to Paul's case manager, Golden Pond, Waterview Lodge, and the caregivers from Jaque Home Care, Inc., for the care and support they provided.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Stroke Association.
