UPTON – It was quite a mess in Upton Tuesday after a foam fire suppression system belonging to the Grafton & Upton Railroad accidentally discharged along the tracks on Maple Avenue between Main and Pleasant Streets.
Town safety officials say a mechanical equipment failure caused the system to activate and coat the area with foam. A significant public safety response was needed to contain the discharge and coordinate the cleanup. Officials say there was no threat to the general public.
