Judith “Judy” Martha Gillett Keefe, 82, of Hopkinton
1944 - 2026

Judy was raised in Hopkinton and graduated from Hopkinton High School before attending the Chandler School for Women in Boston. During high school, she played trombone in the band, participated in orchestra, and played basketball despite standing just 4 feet 11 inches tall. Her classmates knew her for her bright personality, smile, and sense of humor.

Judy married her high school boyfriend, James Edward Keefe, in 1964. Together they had one son, Brendan Kerry Keefe, whom they adored. Judy worked as a bookkeeper for the Boy Scouts of America, at Colella’s Supermarket in Hopkinton, and later retired from the Hopkinton Town Hall Building Department, where she coordinated building permits.

Judy loved family gatherings, Cape Cod trips, neighborhood block parties, and any opportunity to celebrate with the people she loved. She and Jimmy were especially known for their legendary Marathon Day gatherings at their Ray Street home. Judy will be remembered for her happy demeanor, enormous smile, contagious laughter, and ability to bring life to every gathering.

She is survived by her son, Brendan Kerry Keefe and his wife, Aydee, and their children, Miguel, Daniel, and Jocelyn Keefe, all of Spencer. She also leaves her siblings, Jane Hinckley, Carol Bodkin, and Robert Gillett; her brother-in-law, Dennis Keefe; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 17th, from 11 AM to 1 PM at Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton, located at 57 Hayden Rowe Street. A funeral service will follow at 1 PM. Interment will be held at a later date.
