Born in Framingham, Maria was a lifelong Milford resident and a 1985 graduate of Milford High School. She continued her education at Quinsigamond Community College and earned her bachelor’s degree in education from UMass Amherst.
Maria dedicated her career to early childhood education. She began at Tracy & Becky Day Care & Pre-School in Milford, later serving as a program supervisor for the SMOC Head Start Program before becoming Director of Early Childhood Education at the Dimock Center in Roxbury. She also served as a Milford Town Meeting member.
Maria enjoyed trips to the casino, going to the beach, attending polka festivals, and cheering on the Boston Bruins. Above all, she cherished time with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband of 33 years, Maria is survived by her sons, Michael J. Ozella II of Milford and Jeremy Bottoms and his wife, Vanessa, of Blackstone; her granddaughter, Aryanna Bottoms of Blackstone; and her siblings, Edward Scirocco and his wife, Tammy, Donna Lucier and her husband, Edward, Steven Scirocco, Laura Scirocco, and Debora Parry and her husband, George. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Cremation will take place in accordance with her wishes. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 17th, beginning at noon at the Nipmuc Rod & Gun Club, located at 88 Fiske Mill Road in Upton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Nipmuc Rod & Gun Club Kids Fishing Derby, c/o Nipmuc Rod & Gun Club, located at the P.O. Box 171 in Hopedale.
