1943 - 2026
Born on February 15th, 1943, in Milford, Linda was the daughter of the late William J. Francis Jr. and Edith E. (Look) Francis. She was a graduate of Hopedale High School and was known for her kindness, humor, strong family values, and dedication to her family and community.
Linda played an important role in the family businesses. She served as President, Treasurer, and Director of Varney Brothers Concrete in Bellingham and worked in all phases of the family’s cattle farm, Twin Elm Farm in Mendon.
She was also deeply involved in the community, serving on the boards of Milford National Bank, Milford Regional Hospital, and the Milford Area Chamber of Commerce. She also served as a Water Board member in Mendon and as a local owners representative for the Health and Welfare Fund of Teamsters Local 170.
Linda enjoyed golfing and treasured time at Hopedale Country Club, Franklin Country Club, The Quechee Club in Vermont, and Willowbend in Mashpee. She was also a member of the Warriors Club in Mendon and an avid supporter of local youth sports.
Family was at the center of Linda’s life. She is survived by her children, Tracy L. Anderson and her husband, Bobby, of Mendon; Laurie J. Armstrong and her husband, Ricky, of Mendon; Jon R. Varney and his wife, Leslie, of Mendon; and Elizabeth A. Varney and her husband, Yobani, of Newton.
She also leaves her sister, Geri Cyr and her husband, Hank, of North Carolina; her brothers, Chet Francis and his wife, Neeni, of Hopedale, and Mark W. Francis of Texas; sisters-in-law Patty Francis of Arizona and Joanne Francis of Hopedale; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, Maeve, Cameron, and Aubrey; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Rick Francis and Bill Francis.
The family extends its gratitude to the care teams at Atria Draper Place in Hopedale, Lydia Taft House Rehabilitation Center in Uxbridge, and Countryside Healthcare of Milford.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, September 30th, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, located at 42 Congress Street in Milford.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 1st at 10:30 A.M. at the Hopedale Unitarian Parish, located at 65 Hopedale Street in Hopedale. Burial will follow in Hopedale Village Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Countryside Healthcare of Milford Memory Care Unit, located at 1 Countryside Drive in Milford, or The Anthony Ferrucci Memorial Scholarship Fund, located at 78 North Avenue in Mendon.
