BELLINGHAM — The Bellingham Blackhawks opened their high school football season in impressive fashion, defeating Woburn 24-7 in their season opener.
Quarterback Cam Macgregor led the way offensively as Bellingham jumped out to a 17-7 lead early. The Blackhawks’ defense then took over, shutting out Woburn for the entire second half to help secure the convincing victory.
Anthony Barrasso scored the first 10 points of the game with a field goal and on the receiving end of a 61-yard pass from MacGregor.
MacGregor ran it in himself later in the half for 10-yard touchdown on the ground. Before the half ended, Woburn got points on the board with their QB, Aiden Wood getting a rushing touchdown of his own.
After a scoreless third quarter, the Junior Captain Jax Elder for Bellingham got the final score to make it 24-7.
With the win, Bellingham begins the season 1-0. The Blackhawks will look to make it two straight when they travel to take on Westwood Friday night at 7 p.m.
