WWII in the Blackstone Valley: A History Open House to Highlight the Region’s Wartime Contributions

[Worcester, MA – September 13, 2026 ] The Blackstone Valley’s critical role in the Allied victory during World War II will take center stage at WWII in the Blackstone Valley: A History Open House, bringing together reenactors, authors, historians, local organizations, and community members to explore the people and places that contributed to the war effort.

The open house will focus on the remarkable transformation that took place across the Blackstone Valley after the United States entered World War II. Manufacturers throughout the region rapidly shifted from civilian production to wartime manufacturing, producing the equipment, materials, and supplies needed to support American troops and the broader Allied war effort.

But the story of wartime production is also the story of the people behind it.

Through displays, presentations, living history, and opportunities to meet local historians and organizations, the event will highlight the factories, workers, veterans, and communities that played a part in mobilizing the region for war.

The event will provide visitors with an opportunity to learn more about the Valley’s wartime history while connecting with organizations and individuals preserving these stories today.

WWII in the Blackstone Valley: A History Open House will take place Sunday, September 13, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Blackstone River Greenway Visitor Center at Worcester, 3 Paul Clancy Wy, Worcester, MA 01607. The event is FREE open to the public.
