FRANKLIN – Franklin could generate more than $3 million in revenue under a proposal to make some of its additional sewer capacity available to neighboring Millis and Medway.

The Franklin Town Council is scheduled to discuss the proposal Wednesday night. According to meeting agenda documents, representatives from Millis and Medway recently met with Franklin officials to discuss a potential agreement.

If approved, Franklin would allow a 150,000-gallon sewer capacity transfer to each community at a rate of $10.50 per gallon.

The two transfers would generate more than $3 million in combined revenue for Franklin. Town officials also say the arrangement could help reduce Franklin’s operating costs.

The proposal remains subject to approval as the Town Council considers whether making the additional capacity available to neighboring communities is in Franklin’s best interest.
