MEDWAY – After years of planning and work, Medway’s new dedicated food pantry is officially open and already serving hundreds of local families.

The Medway Food Pantry says that during its first three weeks of operation, the new facility was used 555 times by more than 1,600 people. About one-third of those served were children.

The opening comes ahead of Hunger Action Month in September, when the Pantry plans to share information about hunger in the community and the work being done locally to address food insecurity.

Residents interested in supporting the organization can follow the Medway Food Pantry online throughout the month. Information about receiving assistance, volunteering and supporting the Pantry is also available through the Medway Food Pantry website.
