FRANKLIN — Families will have a chance to learn more about bicycle safety and take part in a variety of activities during a Bike and Helmet Safety Event planned for Saturday, Sept. 12 at Franklin High School.
The event will run from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the Franklin High School parking lot and is being hosted by Alison Rheaume, State Representative Jeffrey Roy and the Franklin Police Department.
Organizers will provide free bicycle helmets while supplies last, along with a free bike raffle and a bike course for children to practice riding skills.
Other activities will include a coloring table, helmet decorating, vendor tables and a fire truck on display. Organizers say the bike course, coloring table and helmet decorating will all include adaptive options.
The event will also feature a “Buddy the Brain” story stroll, tied to the children’s book by Alison Rheaume. Rheaume, who is both the author and illustrator, will also be selling signed copies of the book during the event.
The goal of the morning is to combine safety education with hands-on activities that help children and families learn more about properly using helmets and staying safe while riding.
The Bike and Helmet Safety Event takes place Saturday, Sept. 12 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Franklin High School.
