1942 - 2026
Ellen grew up in Troy, New York, and later moved to Londonderry, Vermont, where she raised her two young sons with strength, creativity, and determination. During her final years, she lived in Massachusetts with her son, William, and his wife, Kirstie, surrounded by family.
Creativity was a constant throughout Ellen’s life. Over the years, she brought her artistic eye to a variety of careers and interests, including graphic design, retail management, interior design, and portrait artistry.
Ellen was also known for her sharp sense of humor, which could often take on a dry and dark edge. That wit stood in contrast to the deep religious faith that remained an important and grounding part of her life.
Ellen was predeceased by her husband, Peter Thorner.
She is survived by her two sons, James and his wife, Krista, and William and his wife, Kirstie; her grandchildren, Lyla, Cass, Nathan, and Kade; as well as other loving family members and friends.
Ellen passed away on a day that held special significance for her family, marking both the wedding anniversary of her son William and his wife Kirstie and the high school graduation of her granddaughter Lyla.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 22nd, from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, located at 3 Barber Street in Medway.
A funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM at the St. Joseph’s Church.
