WORCESTER — The EcoTarium in Worcester is getting ready to bring baseball into the museum with the opening of a new interactive traveling exhibit, “Big League Fun,” on Saturday, Aug. 29.
The exhibit is designed to introduce visitors to baseball through hands-on activities while also exploring the math and science that play an important role in the game. According to the EcoTarium, visitors will be able to take part in game-related simulations, test their baseball knowledge with trivia and learn more about the concepts behind what happens on the diamond.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the official opening of the exhibit is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Aug. 29.
Following the ribbon cutting, the EcoTarium plans to offer additional sports-related educational programming along with a mascot meet-and-greet. The Dogfather food truck will also be on site for part of the day with hot dogs available for purchase.
“Big League Fun” will be located on the lower level of the EcoTarium and will be included with regular museum admission.
The traveling exhibit was created by the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum, with the tour presented by the Minnesota Children’s Museum.
By combining baseball with STEM concepts, the exhibit gives children and families an opportunity to look beyond the final score and explore how subjects such as mathematics and science connect with one of America’s most familiar sports.
