1949 - 2026
Born in Providence, Rhode Island, John was the son of the late Anthony and Rosanna (Cacchione) Landi. He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in Providence in 1967 and had been a resident of Uxbridge since 1976.
Following high school, John enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War, with tours in Germany, Vietnam, and Korea. He later served for 12 years in the Rhode Island National Guard, attended Air Assault School, and attained the rank of sergeant.
John worked as service manager at Continental Engineering in Johnston, Rhode Island, before retiring in 2018. His commitment to serving others extended to his community, where he spent 20 years as a firefighter and EMT with the Uxbridge Fire Department.
An avid outdoorsman, John loved fishing and hunting and especially enjoyed time aboard his fishing boat, Glory Days. Above all, he will be remembered as a generous man whose presence will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
John is survived by his wife, Pamela; his three children, Jennifer A. Swanson and her husband, Tom, of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, Nicholas J. Landi and his wife, Kristen, and Matthew D. Landi and his wife, Kathryn, of Cumberland, Rhode Island; and his four grandchildren, Anthony Landi, Abigail Landi, Kendall Cournoyer, and Justin Cournoyer.
He also leaves his aunt, Jeanette Musco of Lincoln, Rhode Island; his nephews, Cory Landi of Pascoag, Rhode Island, Clifford Ferrone of Hopedale, and Michael Rooney of Milford; his sisters-in-law, Alison Ferrone of Bellingham, Sheree Peterson of East Sandwich, and Jaymie Martin of Milford; and many friends.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 12th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Buma Funeral Home, located at 101 North Main Street, Route 122 in Uxbridge.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 13th from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church, located at 77 Mendon Street in Uxbridge.
Burial with military honors will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
