MASSACHUSETTS – Shoppers will get a break from the state’s sales tax this weekend during the annual Massachusetts Sales Tax Holiday.

The tax-free weekend takes place Saturday, August 8th, and Sunday, August 9th, allowing most retail purchases under $2,500 to be made without paying the state’s 6.25 percent sales tax.

Originally created to help families with back-to-school shopping, the annual holiday now applies to most personal purchases made at Massachusetts retailers. Many online purchases also qualify, provided the transaction is completed during the designated tax holiday period in the Eastern Time Zone.
