WORCESTER — The road to the American Legion World Series begins Thursday as the 2026 American Legion Northeast Regional Tournament gets underway at Fitton Field on the campus of The College of the Holy Cross.
Eight state champions from across the Northeast will compete in the double-elimination tournament, with the champion earning a berth in the American Legion World Series in Shelby, North Carolina next weekend.
Massachusetts champion Franklin Post 75 enters the tournament riding a perfect 22-0 record after capturing the state championship last week. Franklin will open regional play against Bedford, New Hampshire at 2 p.m. in the second game of the tournament.
Opening day begins at 11 a.m. with Essex, Vermont taking on Cumberland, Rhode Island.
The final game of the day is scheduled for 6 p.m., when Sanford, Maine squares off against host team Shrewsbury Post 397, giving the home crowd an opportunity to cheer on the tournament hosts under the lights.
The tournament runs Thursday through Sunday, Aug. 9, with every game taking place at Fitton Field in Worcester. Fans will have the opportunity to watch some of the best American Legion baseball teams in the Northeast compete for a regional championship and a chance to advance to the national stage.
After completing an unbeaten run through the Massachusetts State Tournament, Franklin now looks to continue its remarkable season against the region’s top competition, beginning Thursday afternoon against Bedford, New Hampshire.
