1933 - 2026
Born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Billie was the daughter of the late Silas and Ollie Mae (Fanning) Martin. Proud of her Oklahoma roots, she often described herself as an "Okie from Muskogee" and carried her love for her home state with her throughout her life, even after spending most of her years in Massachusetts.
After graduating from high school, Billie moved to Washington, D.C., where she worked for the United States Department of the Navy. While there, she met Eugene Flannery, a young United States Marine Corps veteran who had recently returned from the Korean War. The two married and shared 64 years together before Eugene's passing in 2017.
The couple made their home in Hopkinton, where they raised six children: Eugene Edward Jr., William Martin, Jane Ellen, Amy Kathleen, Sean Patrick, and Shane Thomas.
Billie's Catholic faith was central to her life. She was a devoted parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church, where she worked in the rectory, taught CCD classes, and served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years.
Above all else, Billie cherished her family. Her home was always filled with children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she found her greatest joy in the laughter, energy, and togetherness they brought. Following the loss of her husband, it was the constant presence of her growing family that continued to bring her happiness and purpose.
Billie was predeceased by her husband, Eugene Flannery; her parents; and her brothers, Hobert Martin, Everet Martin, and Gerald Martin.
She is survived by her six children, along with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will forever treasure her love, warmth, and unwavering devotion to family.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 7th, from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM at the Chesmore Funeral Home, located at 57 Hayden Rowe Street in Hopkinton.
A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
A private family burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery.
Family and friends are also invited to celebrate Billie's life from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the Woodville Rod & Gun Club, located at 252 Wood Street in Woodville.
