A devoted member of Saint Mary's Church, Shirley was actively involved in the parish's Women's Guild and remained a faithful member of her church community throughout her life. She also dedicated her time to the Holliston Historical Society, where she volunteered at many community events.
For more than 30 years, Shirley worked in the jewelry department at Sears in Natick. During her career, she formed lifelong friendships that continued into retirement through weekly coffee gatherings. She enjoyed traveling, quilting, spending time in nature, listening to music, caring for animals, and solving puzzles, but nothing brought her greater happiness than being with her family.
Shirley is survived by her children, Kathleen Bauer and her husband, Edward; Michael Pelkey and his wife, Diane; Brian Pelkey; and Shannon Sturtevant and her husband, Richard. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren who lovingly knew her as "Nana" and "GG."
She was predeceased by her daughter, Patricia Burns; her sister, Marilyn Gibbs; and her grandsons, Joseph and Brandon Pelkey.
