1945 - 2026
Born on August 11th, 1945, in Springfield, Massachusetts, John was the beloved son of the late Mary Collins Kennedy and Henry P. Kennedy. Raised in Medway, he developed a lifelong love of learning, history, music, and the enduring friendships that remained an important part of his life.
John was a graduate of Medway High School before earning his bachelor's degree from Villanova University and his master's degree from Boston College.
He dedicated his professional life to education, serving as a teacher, educational administrator, and consultant. Throughout his career, John inspired generations of students through his patience, integrity, and unwavering belief in the power of learning. His quiet leadership and commitment to helping others succeed left a lasting impact on countless lives.
Outside the classroom, John found joy in tending his gardens, reading, cheering on the Boston Red Sox, and listening to music from the 1950s and 1960s, Broadway productions, and opera. He also had a deep appreciation for history and especially treasured traveling to Ireland, where he created many cherished memories with family and friends.
John is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Patricia Moran Kennedy; his children, Michael Kennedy and his wife, Patricia, Robert Kennedy and his wife, Melissa, and Colleen Kennedy; his stepchildren, Erin Brennan and her husband, Matthew, and Shawn Collins and his wife, Seana; his cherished grandchildren, Catherine Kennedy, Caroline Kennedy, Colin M. Kennedy, Brady Kennedy, Mae Caldwell, Kyle Caldwell, Daniel Delmonico, Keira Brennan, and James Brennan; along with his nephews, niece, extended family, many dear friends, former students, and colleagues.
He also leaves behind his lifelong friends, Steve Gordon and Richard Smith, whose enduring friendship was one of the great blessings of his life.
John's family expressed heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, caregivers, and hospice team whose compassion, dignity, and kindness provided comfort and support throughout his illness.
No public services are planned. John will be remembered privately by his family and friends.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home.
