FRANKLIN/BELLINGHAM – Franklin and Bellingham have been awarded a $30,000 Hazard Mitigation Grant from the Commonwealth to update their emergency preparedness plans.

Town officials say the funding will help identify ways to reduce damage and improve resilience before natural disasters occur.

The updated plans will examine potential risks from flooding, severe winds, winter storms, brush fires, geological hazards, extreme temperatures, and drought. Officials say maintaining current hazard mitigation plans is also important for remaining eligible for certain Federal Emergency Management Agency grant programs.
