MILFORD – The body of a 17-year-old Boston teenager who disappeared while swimming in a Milford quarry over the weekend has been recovered.

Family members confirmed that Yanick Rodrigues was found Sunday afternoon after an extensive search involving dozens of first responders from multiple communities. Rodrigues was reported missing Saturday after friends said he went underwater while swimming in the quarries behind Shadowbrook Lane.

According to friends, Rodrigues, who was described as a strong athlete, experienced a cramp while swimming, panicked, and disappeared beneath the water. The tragedy comes just days after Milford Police Chief Robert Tusino urged the public to stay away from the quarries following a separate rescue in which an 18-year-old woman suffered serious injuries after falling from a rock ledge. Officials continue to warn that the area is dangerous due to steep cliffs, deep water, and difficult terrain.
