1923 - 2026
Born on August 3, 1923, in Norfolk, Massachusetts, Carol was the daughter of the late Burleigh Scammon and Ada C. (Smalley) Scammon. She was raised in Norfolk, attended the local schools, and graduated from Walpole High School in 1941.
World War II interrupted Carol's studies at Hunter College, leading her to volunteer for the United States Navy WAVES. During her military service, she met her future husband, Alfonse "Al" Corrado, and the couple married in Washington, D.C., on August 24th, 1944.
After the war, Carol and Al settled in Medway, where they built their family and later owned and operated Colonial Cleaning Center in Holliston. From the 1960s until 1984, the nationally recognized, award-winning dry-cleaning business served a distinguished clientele that included the Smithsonian Institution and many of Boston's premier clothing stores.
Carol was devoted to her family, her Catholic faith, and her community. She is survived by her sons, John Corrado and his wife, Paula, of Phoenix, Arizona, and Gregorio Corrado and his wife, Rita, of Boston; her grandson, Brian Corrado and his wife, Elizabeth, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her great-grandchildren, Thomas, Sophia, and Caroline; her sister-in-law, Alice (Corrado) Wright of Milford; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alfonse "Al" Corrado; her brother, Burleigh Eugene Scammon; and her sisters, Charlotte Sneddon, Margaret Cole, and Edythe "Deedee" Carlson.
Carol will be interred beside her late husband at Massachusetts National Cemetery, honoring a lifetime of love and service shared together.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 22nd from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, located at 3 Barber Street in Medway.
