MILFORD – Milford firefighters carried out two challenging rescues over the weekend using the department’s utility terrain vehicle (UTV).

According to Fire Chief Mark Nelson, crews responded Sunday morning to assist an injured mountain biker on trails off Cedar Street. Firefighters used the UTV to reach the patient, who was later transported to a trauma center for treatment.

Later Sunday evening, crews responded to the Shadowbrook Quarries after a woman was injured in a remote wooded area. Firefighters again used the UTV to transport the patient from the woods to a nearby clearing, where a medical helicopter landed to fly her to a hospital.
